Can someone tell me what jobs i can get into if i have a degree in computer science or any other computing subject? How earning are these jobs?
What sort of jobs and how earning could computer science give you?
There are so many industries you can enter with a qualification in computer science. And within each industry there are varying sizes of companies you could work for - each offering very differing levels of salary and benefits.
I have a BSc (Hons) Applied Computing. Graduated in 2006. I began employment with one of the largest investment banks and my starting salary was 34,000 GBP. This increased to 39,000 GBP after one year. I also get private medical insurance and other benefits. It must be said that jobs with these large corporations are competitive and very demanding. But hey... it's worth the effort!
On the other scale... friends of mine with exactly the same qualifications, graduating at the same time work for smaller companies in different locations and their salaries range from 18,000 GBP to 29,000 GBP. Some with extra benefits, some without.
My advise to you for your first job after getting qualified would be to find a company that offers training opportunities, and a role that really interests you.
For the first few years out of school you want to aim to get good quality experience for your resume and improve your skills. A great salary can come at a later point if need-be when you have experience behind you.
Good luck!
Reply:I'm seriously considering this major and this is what I've found. It opens you up to a ton of careers. The lowest yearly wage I've seen was over $45,000 and the highest was over $100,000 It really varies. (those include ONLY entry levels (45 K) and averages. These are not the high end wages. These are wages that you can expect to get.)
