What kinds of jobs can you do from home and pay National Insurance contributions?

I had a baby a couple of months ago and cant go out to work. I need some ideas of any jobs I can do from home and pay tax. I have a BSc in Cell Biology and am in the UK. Any ideas or help will be appreciated.

What kinds of jobs can you do from home and pay National Insurance contributions?
Whatever you do, you will only pay tax on profit over £5225 (2007/2008).

NI will also depend on how much profit you make.

Why exactly do you want to pay tax and NI? If it is to keep your NI / state pension records up to date, then Carer Allowance, Child Benefit, Child Tax Credit -( 1 of them anyway) gives pension credits too.
Reply:ebay, find something to make and sell.
Reply:You don't need to be employed to pay your National insurance contribution. You can make voluntary or additional payments to ensure your NI is always up-to-date. If you are claiming Jobseekers or Income Support you get your NI paid for you by the Government. Sometimes you don't actually need to be receiving any IS money yet the NI will still be paid for you, I think it's called Contributions-based IS.

As for jobs you can do from home, I can't help you there, sorry!
Reply:No legitimate ones in the U.S. sorry.
Reply:If you are worrying about keeping your "stamp" up to date, I have earned under the threshold for the last few years (small child), and they write to me every so often (I've had one letter in three years) and asked me to make up the amount. Its wasn't a huge amount and they gave me until 2011 to pay it. I think my last one was for about £70. If you don't pay it at all, it just means your final pension fund will be smaller.
