What kind of jobs are possible for someone who enjoys art?

Yeah, I just want to know what sorts of jobs are available to a person who enjoys art, is good at it and is planning to use it in the future... I go to an English based school so the possibilities for me in art are to take 'O' Level or GCSE(same thing) and then above that is the 'A' Level... Im currently taking the O level course and Im just curious about the sorts of jobs available with someone who achieves both those ranks. Also what path ways are there with graphics design, architecture and video game design? Tnx

Whatever your passion is, follow it in art, and it is rewarding. IF your good at what you do, you WILL find success...just be willing to work hard and put in a lot of time and dedication.

Graphic Design is what I do....but i'm also aphotographer, artist, and illustrator...i use my talents in many ways!

Visit http://www.graphicdesignforum.com for more info on that...

To get a really good idea of what creative jobs are out there, check out craigslist.org and go into different regions and checkout the art, media, and design job listings. Read their qualifications and what they are looking for...i think this will give u a great idea of what your are asking....

ALSO visit career sites like monster.com, careerbuilder... and search for creative jobs there...SOME list salary req. experience needed, and what you basically need to know....

hope that helps!
Reply:Oh man that's kind of an open question. I will say however when your first looking for a job in the creative arts field, you kind of need to pinpoint in which direction you want to go. I know when I got out of college I had three portfolios. I had to take one for a specific job. So you kind of have to decide or really become a jack of all trades to find your first gig. I will say that I recommend a great book on this topic. The ISBN is below

I have that book, and it helped a lot. Punch in that number into any book searcher, and it will come up toot sweet. Also see what you can get in internships. Even though some don't pay right away ( mine was paid. I was lucky ) They really give you a taste as to what to expect. I was originally thinking of game design when I was in college, but the market was tough. This was in 2001. Now with games even on your toaster (almost) there are plenty of companies you can go work for.Just be ready to code if necessary. I currently work in the clothing industry. I like it. I started working for a small time print shop. It was a blast always working for local companies and start up fashion companies. I had a real nice hands on connection with the customers. Now I am in the big leagues and I just get art requests. Poop. Pays better and I live on the outskirts of Philadelphia ( which is what I wanted ) but I do miss the heydays of You got 3 hours, come up with a clothing line for these shirts. That I loved. It was tough, long hours, but it did pay off. I'd almost take the pay hit and go back. (Almost) But the moral of the story is you never know what the field offers until you get in there.
Reply:I'd say become a cop, when you reach top pay you can buy all the art you want.
