What kind of jobs can I do from home in my spare time to help pay down my debt?

I have a current full-time job but my hours are such that I can't really take on a part-time job with set hours. I'm looking to become debt free and wonder what kind of jobs I can do from home in my spare time that will help me achieve that.

What kind of jobs can I do from home in my spare time to help pay down my debt?
You could try online teaching... something with a computer...

What jobs have been replaced by a form of information technology in the last ten years?

I see many human jobs are being replaced by technology, such as bank tellers, grocery store clerks, and customer service representatives.

What other jobs have been taken away from humans by machines and computers?

What jobs have been replaced by a form of information technology in the last ten years?
Many manufacturing jobs like automakers, tedious, repetitive and dangerous jobs. Telephone operators. Television stations in larger markets use automated cameras that can be manipulated by one person instead of a crew of five or six. Many radio stations are also automated in some fashion. You may not know that the DJ recorded the show, because it still sounds 'live'. Payroll departments are usually automated.
Reply:Receptionists for one.... most companies are going for automated telephone services. It's be sheer luck if you ever get to talk to a real, live human being anymore....

How can Obama support returning jobs and then call for open borders?

Are labor unions just dumb? How can they support a guy who wants to do nothing to secure the borders and yet turn around and tell UAW workers in Wisconsin that NAFTA was a mistake and he will get their jobs back.

Anything for a vote-Obama-strikes again?

How can Obama support returning jobs and then call for open borders?
I wonder about the Teamsters...aren't they for the truckers? Didn't Obama side with illegal and drivers licenses? Don't you think companies would hire the illegals to pay them less?

I can understand the SEIU, considering Rezko is involved.

Personally, I don't think the union members are that gullible.

And yes, you are right..Obama will do anything to get elected..even use words that elected other politicians. Pitiful and dishonest in my opinion!

What are some decent paying jobs for someone with an associates?

I will have my bachelors in either December 08 or Spring of 09 in psychology.

I was just curious, and I know there probably aren't many(if any) but what are some of the higher paying jobs you have found or heard of requiring an associates or lower? Paying about how much?

What are some decent paying jobs for someone with an associates?
The key is in the FIELD--just an AA is not anything (nor is a BS/BA).

Associates in:

nursing

nuclear med tech

sonography

medical billing

x-ray tech

physical therapy tech

paralegal

computer science (ability to keep a network up and running or such)

accounting

all of those and more have real market value.

BS/BA in Women's Studies, History, Psychology, English, etc. have no market value--just shows you went to college.

Pay varies a great deal. To check job areas and pay ops in general go here and enter the job title:

How do you get sleep when working 2 full time jobs?

I know that I'm not the only CRAZY person in this world, but I am about to start working 2 full time jobs (9am-5.30pm %26amp; 11pm - 7am) as a Secretary and a Hotel Front desk Host. I've always had 1 full time and 1 part time job, so I'm used to distributing my energy that way.

How should I plan my day? Travel time (one way) to work is roughly 15 minutes. I can dress the same way to both jobs.

Help?

How do you get sleep when working 2 full time jobs?
There are some great answers here on this board. It's nice to see others have done this and survived.

Adjust your diet - lose the coffee, sodas, junk food. And if the energy drinks/power bars work for you, definitely consider them. Try to eat a good hearty lunch midday. Don't skimp on food.

I'm not sure your have scheduled enough sleep time. You're going to need a minimum 4 hrs of sleep, uninterrupted. "Trick" your brain - change into pjs, darken the room, cool temp not warm in the room, maybe even a sound machine if you can sleep with one. Devote yourself to that sleep time but don't rush into the house fullspeed and expect to sleep right away. I don't recommend sleeping pills of any kind.

Definitely trim your "prep" time down - short hair, little makeup, quick change clothes. And do eat breakfast

Good luck and take care of yourself...
Reply:Hi, that's a lot of hours worked. Ever thought of working for yourself and be free of those long hours at work? Just a suggestion and if interested, please email me at rpelley5@yahoo.com and I can tell you how my team and I are doing it. Thank you.
Reply:I had two jobs, last year when I lived in San Diego, California.

I would do this, at costco buy a flat of Rockstar energy drink, slowly drink this over the shift.

I figured out a place to sleep at the second job for power naps, at my job it was a library. Get a cell phone where you can set a alarm to wake you for twenty minutes power nap.

look around you. What kind of stores/places are open in the eveings and you will have your answer.

There are plenty 24hr stores, they obviously need people.

Restaurants and bars always need people.

Even concert halls need people to sell tickets.

If you are a nurse, they are needed.

bus driver, taxi driver, the list goes on...

What jobs would I qualify for as a medical assistant?

What jobs would I qualify for if I get certified as a medical assistant besides medical assistant? My brother's professor says I could qualify for nurse's aid also along with medical assistant. What else? What is the job demand for medical assistant? What does the class require? Does this skill transfer easily country to country (say I qualify in the US, will such qualifications be accepted in Europe?) or just within the US?

What jobs would I qualify for as a medical assistant?
I've heard that there are not too many jobs for the MA (including medical biller and coder). If you would still like to enter a training program, please do so at a lesser expensive school such as the local community college (perhaps non-credit course) or county vo-tech school as opposed to private schools. And please stay away from online schools such as penn foster and stratford career as most employers don't find them to be reputable. Others have recommended on YA that the person skip the MA training and instead apply for admission to an LPN (licensed practical nurse) program albeit it is supposed to be quite rigorous in the coursework as well as clinicals. It is said thought that there are supposed to be a lot more job opportunities for the lpn (however, not nearly as much as the RN/registered nurse).
Reply:Course requirements vary from state to state. Some give you a certification, some a license, etc. You will likely have to pass an exam, like a nurse would, if you go out of the country or transfer between states.
Reply:Not much, actually.

MAs can work in a variety of medical settings, but are usually found in clinics and private practices. The most marketable skills they have are doing vital signs ... and that can't take you very far. Nurse's aides, if they are certified, can do a bit more, but the area of highest demand is in nursing homes. Either way, career growth is fairly limited. For one more year of training, a bit more in the way of advancement and options can be had -- radiation technology, for one, a definitely growing field.

What if my two current jobs have diffferent state addresses?

I haven't done my taxes yet (oops) because i am not sure how to file. i keep all my paperwork at my home address (my dad's) but also have an apartment over the state line. I technically live at both still because i share the apartment and i am not always there. I work two jobs and one has my dad's address, the other the apartment address. Since my dad's is in illinois and my apartment is in wisconsin, how should i file?

What if my two current jobs have diffferent state addresses?
some states have specific rules on whether you pay income tax or not if you were a resident or not.

even though people may not agree with me, i always encourage people to do their own taxes by using turbo tax. its a great tax software and it will ask you every quetion that a tax preparer would ask you. you also can buy both state to see how to handle you personal tax situation.

hope this helps.
Reply:Look up each state's definition of resident, and hope you can define yourself as a resident of one or the other. Otherwise, you need to file a non resident or part year resident forms for both states. In Illinois its IL_1040NR. Not sure about WI. R

What jobs can I hold down as a nursing student?

I am planning on going back to school in the fall and getting my RN. The problem with this is that my fiance will not be making enough money to support the two of us for me to just stop working completely and focus entirely on school. And with the hectic studying schedule and the clinical schedule (working all kinds of strange hours in the day and night, and not knowing what my clinical hours will be like week to week), i will not be able to hold down a steady job. What kind of jobs can I look into that will be flexible with my school schedule? Keep in mind that I have no bartending experience and I do NOT want to be a stripper.

What jobs can I hold down as a nursing student?
Hi,

I am an RN and I can tell you from experience that you really cant work and go to school. You will need all your time to study and be focused on that. When I went to school it was 5 days a week from 8 til 4.I tried working at night, then coming home to study for 3-4 hrs and the next thing you know if was falling asleep in class and feeling lousy. So I quit ad just went to school. And let me tell you being an RN is not what it used to be Yes the money is good, but the paper work is a nightmare,

12 hour days, alot of time no appreciation,.Id think long and hard about this, maybe give LPN a try only 1 year ,less intensive on your time,or just go in to a totally diffrent line of work
Reply:Try for a job in a hospital setting. A job as an aide or nursing assistant may work. There are also various shifts made available to the staff and management is very flexible when it comes to nursing students. Furthermore, this will be a great way to gain some clinical experience to help you in your studies. Not only that, it pretty much guarantees you a job after graduation.
Reply:When I was in nursing school, I worked on campus as a student tutor. Apply for financial aid at the school - even if you think your family's income is too high, most people are eligible for some kind of aid, including low-interest student loans (just about everyone will qualify for these), and as part of your financial aid package you might be eligible for the work-study program, where you could work in the library, records office, or any number of positions on campus. The pay isn't fabulous, but it's a job!
Reply:Something fairly easy would be to work as a sitter for the elderly. Or a caregiver in a retirement home or assisted living facility on the graveyard shift. I have done both and worked another job. I am a CNA.
Reply:You can work for a health care facility being a CNA or a Home Health Aide, a lot of agency's have all times of hours and fit your schedule
Reply:dont be a stripper plz....waitressing is pretty easy for a part time job, and sometimes you can make a lot of money doing it too
Reply:hey im in the same boat. im majoring in clinical biology and the classes are pretty intense. you prob. will do your clinicals during the week. so try and get a fri-sun job. try waitressing. its cake once you learn the menu and time goes by fast when your working. you can make decent money. or you could just work two days sat and sun. waitressing shift is normally 4-5 hrs unless you have to close the restaurant and most places wont make you close every night. even though working every weekendd sucks its not like youll be there all day. so you could still study before or after work on the weekends. good luck

How do I get a job from a reliable agency that accepts young teens? And what jobs can I apply for?

I have been trying to get a job as a tutor for a few months, and I kept calling one agency, but they were unreliable. I am trying others, but am uncertain if they will accept me because of my age. I have a A average in MAth, and have taken Algebra 1 and below, so now I am on Geometry. I want to be a math tutor, but can't find anyone who is reliable or will accept me. What are good jobs to choose when join the air force that will transfer well into a good career in civilian?

I am joining the Air force in the spring/summer of 08 . I need some advice on A.)how to get your recruiter to put in writing a guarantee on the job you want. and B.) What are a list of good jobs that will transfer into a good career once out of the military? I already have my BA degree, in psychology and while I am in the air force I plan on going to school to get my masters , hopefully to aid what I am doing in the air force. My hope in joining the air force is to gain knowledge in a skill that will be able to transfer into civilian life after 3 or so years. I have a family that is depending on my plans so any suggestions on how to go about joining and things to know while in the air force as well as WHAT a good job is would be very helpful! thanks in advance.

What are good jobs to choose when join the air force that will transfer well into a good career in civilian?
Most of the people who have answered your question have suggested that you should be an officer just because you have a degree. However, that is not the case. Just because you have a degree does not mean that you will be an officer. The Air Force is downsizing and are highly selective as to who they are accepting for Officer training. As of right now, they are not taking non-technical degrees. Which means that unless you have a degree in one of the sciences or engineering you are pretty much out of luck. Of course, you go can enlisted for a year and then submit your package for Officer training. That way you will have a better chance of being accepted.

Now, on to your question.

A) Your recruiter cannot guarentee a job for you. Getting the job that you want will depend on how well you do on your ASVAB as well as the openings available. You need to score high enough for whatever job you are interested in. After the ASVAB, you will meet with the job liason. They are the ones that draw up your contract. They will go over what jobs you are qualified for. Now, you may be qualified for a job, but there may not be any open slots. The job will be listed on your contract as well as the length of your enlistment. Don't sign your contract unless you get the job that you want.

B) That is entirely up to you. It all depends on what you are interested in. If you want to continue in the psychology field, you can check out Mental Health Apprentice. The Air Force offers a wide variety of positions that will lateral over to the civilian workplace. Like I said it all depends on what you are interested in doing. So, you''ll need to provide a little more info as to what interest you.

I hope that helps and good luck.
Reply:Since you already have a degree, you can and hopefully are going to be commissioned, you'll be an officer. I would go into a medical field. You can't lose there!
Reply:I have been in the AF for almost 10 years now and I have been a Security Forces all that time but what I can tell is that anything in the Medical field will def be a good choice. Also, if you decide to join you will be deployed for as long as 9 months if not more. Depending on where you go. Before you make the commitment, I suggest you really search yourself. Now a days it has changed since I have joined. This is a big step for a lot of people. When I did I did, I knew that i was making a huge commitment. Good Luck in your choice.
Reply:If you already have your BA, then you should be going in as an officer...I'd suggest to specialize in one of the communications career fields...a comm officer gets a lot of training and can even go for a Masters degree at Wright Patterson...(sorry don't remember the school name).
Reply:OSI

It can be clerical nightmare or it can be what you make of it. With the current admin passing all these spy on your neighbor for peace and suspect is guilty until proven otherwise, it should have some longevity.

Could lead to JAG or something, the skills learned can transfer easily into todays markets.
Reply:why not finish your education first and get a commission?
Reply:Hi,

If you already have a degree, you should be an Officer, of course.

As an enlisted Airman I would suggest any job connected to aircraft. Naturally those skills will transfer easily in civilian life. I was an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist in 1978 and 1979.

I was a Phase Dock Inspector of KC-135 Air Refueling jets.

To this day I am a Manufacturing Mecchanical Inspector. I still draw on my experience in the Military.
Reply:Im going in to the air force as well and i think it would be good to do a job that you are good at. There is a lot of jobs in the air force you just have to have the scores to do them, and any job in the air force will get you a good job in the civilian part. Check out this websit: airforce.com and maybe you can find something your good at.
Reply:You have a BA degree, so become an officer, and you could get a job as a counselor, or a Psychologist. I believe there are mass bonuses for those career fields too.

Keep in mind, you are in charge, not the recruiter. Tell him or her what you want and you won't enter unless you get it in writing. They will put down your AFSC (Air Force Specialty Code) on the enlistment paperwork, not sure what it is for an officer, but the recruiter should be able to help you.

You could also look on the Air Force web site for help.

What jobs are available to a person with a disability?

A close friend of mine is at home doing nothing because he thinks that there are no jobs available for someone like himself. A few years ago he was in a car crash so his right arm does not function but his left arm does. He left his sales job and says that apart from "sales" he doesn't have experience. I want to help him because he is quite clever but ever since the accident, he has been feeling down. Maybe a course might help him? Could you also tell me what benefits he is entitled to, thanks.

What jobs are available to a person with a disability?
As he spoke to the job centre, they should be able to help him. The other option would be to try learn-direct for training ideas.

What about call centre work if he has done sales it could be an option.
Reply:you need to take professional advice so try the job centre or citizens advice they will help you with both of them queries. good luck
Reply:Be a Wal-Mart Greeter. Or do something involving data entry... he can type with one hand. Freelance writing. Phone sales (wireless devices would allow him to answer calls and type at the same time).Fast food order taker: "Your total is 25.50... Pull up to the next window, please." Greeting card writer. There's endless possibilities!
Reply:As far as benefits go, I have no idea. But it's amazing how many people with serious disabilities find fulfilling and succesful jobs in the job market. For example, the teller at my bank is deafmute (I don't know if that's the correct term) but he's been working there for years. I also know blind people who work in banks. With a physical disability, he can still get administrative work or get into some kind of consulting, maybe creative jobs like advertising. Perhaps taking a couse or broadening his education would be a good thing if he wants to brach out into something completely different. Everything is possible
Reply:well theres the "marks and start" program.

its work experience for people with disability's ect.

40% go on to find employment.
Reply:It is against the law to discriminate against disabled people, so they should be able to be employed as anything really, even a construction worker.
Reply:well i have a uncle that had a stroke and now hes like that, just sits at home, and hes not even as bad off as ur friend. The state will give him disability and he might have money for retirement coming, u can look into that. But there are a few different things from the state he could get. You ll have to do research and a lot of papers. A place that might take him for work is volunteering, i know no pay, buy maybe being around other people will help, I don't know what kind of grocery store u have around, but as long as he can stand and walk they will hire him for bagging food, hope this all helps.
Reply:It depends on the job he wants.

What is the best way to balance work & family if you work 2 jobs?

Since my husband has had heart surgery and still has problems, I am concerned that he may eventually have to quit work. Therefore I am considering getting a second job right now so we can get all of his medical bills paid and the mortgage paid off. Therefore all that would be left are the normal monthly utility bills - no credit cards. But I feel guilty because we have a 13 year old son and I want to spend more time with him since the next 5 years will fly past and he will be going off to college before we know it. Other than my normal 9-5 job, what type of job can I take that would give me the extra money to get things paid but still give me the free time to be with my son? One note - I spend 2 hours on the day driving to and from work. There are really no jobs around where I live. I just want to get these bills out of the way in case my husband does have to quit work due to his health so I won't have to worry as much about the roof over our head. How do I make time for it all?

What is the best way to balance work %26amp; family if you work 2 jobs?
Spending time with your son is very important, since it is in his teen years that you have to make sure he got a good friends, grades and positive attitude. And I think you should explain the situation to him and work out a scheudle, And looking for something you can do from home, like sale on eBay.

If you treat him as an adult, then I think he will understand it. And it will be easier for you. As for job, you can find something on weekend at local retail store? Since they always need extra help on weekends. And stores closed at 6:00pm on Sunday, and you can spend time with the family.
Reply:There are plenty of things you can do from your home. I know a few different websites for home based business's that you can work around your schedule. 2 hour driving time? Wow! I know how that was. I used to have to do that myself. It gets tiring at times. Unless you have a beautiful drive. Anyhow, if you would like a couple websites to different things you can do at home and have the time for your son, email me and I'll be happy to email you back with them!

Good Luck!
Reply:It's funny I found your question. I quit my job a few months ago in order to pursue my own internet marketing business. I've been listening to the Internet Business Mastery podcast. Which is great podcast about starting your own online business selling information.

The last episode I listened to was about this book called "4-Hour Work Week" by Timothy Ferriss. It's all about building a business where you can eventually outsource most of the tasks in order to spend more time enjoying life, your family, etc.

I also heard them say he talks to employees as well, about how to free up their time and start side businesses.

I am just about to order the audio version to listen to on my Ipod. I thought it may help you too.

Best of luck!

What is the difference between jobs and customers in Quickbooks?

I have a question. My boss has always used the customer name as the job number then a space, then the last name.

I'm new here and I'd like to move to entering it in as the customer name and add jobs under it as we go with the job number space last name so they are easier to find.

I can't think of really any problems with doing this but I've never used "jobs" in my other business. I just used customer names. How will this impact reports or accounting?

Thanks!!

What is a good resource for finding Aerospace Engineering jobs?

My boyfriend is looking for a job in VA. He has a masters in Aerospace Engineering and is looking to go private. We are having a difficult time searching for jobs on the internet. It is not your basic job search. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What is a good resource for finding Aerospace Engineering jobs?
1.) School career fair.

2.) Study current topics in aerospace magazines. They will always name several companies. Look into those companies, and you will find out who they subcontract to. By the time you exhaust a few of these leads, you will have 30 or so potential companies, of which at least 10 will probably be hiring.

3.) The obvious choices:

Boeing

Lockheed Martin

Northrub Grumman

Honeywell

Raytheon

All of these have masters level jobs posted all over the country. If you are looking only in Virginia, obviously your choices may be more limited. If you boyfriend has a master's but no experience, he may need to be willing to accept an entry level position. However, he will probably still recieve a higher starting offer, and will probably advance more quickly.

Can you give me ideas of different jobs besides the usual ones?

I think of college and what i want to do with my life! I need some ideas of many different jobs not in the medical field though. Tell me what is involed with the jobs too! No doctor or lawyer of course i know those.

Can you give me ideas of different jobs besides the usual ones?
I'm going to link to a site called "What can I do with my degree?"

It is sorted first by faculty (Humanities, Science, Engineering, etc) and then by actual degree (English, French, Biology, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, etc). From there, it gives you a list of the most-common jobs for graduates with those degrees, and also some "random" jobs that other graduates have. To find out more information about the specific jobs, go to the second link.

What are the best jobs a student right out of college can get with a masters degree in business management?

I am going to be getting my masters degree in business management soon along with a masters degree in computers and i was wondering what would be the best jobs to get with great pay. The only other experience I have in the workforce was a few years of construction. I am very young and want to make money and eventually buy some apartment buildings and hopefully make as much money as possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What are the best jobs a student right out of college can get with a masters degree in business management?
Finance is great... Investment bankers work hard but make %26gt;$300k. For example, Goldman Sachs' average salary is about $600k, and in good years even the secretaries get bonuses of $80k and up.

What are some good jobs for 13 year olds?

I just turned 13 years old and I've been interested in getting a job for awhile, because I'm sick of asking my parents for money, when we don't have a lot of it at all. (so obviously no allowance, unless I work for about 5 hours in the yard)

I'm responsible for my age, and a bit more mature then usual unless I'm with my friends, and I would like a well payed job to work on. I already babysit, but my older sister gets more of the jobs. I also have tried to call the newspaper to ask for a job with delivering, but they're full, even though I keep trying.

I live in a simple town with a harbor and stuff, where there are many small shops, but none that I'm old enough to work at yet.

I've already tried making signs for yard sales and other things, and doing yard work.

Is there anything else I can do? I'm willing to work hard for a good amount.

What are some good jobs for 13 year olds?
If you are good in a particular subject at school, how about tutoring? Or typing papers. Cleaning houses. How about being a companion and running errands? See if the city has any "per diem" (a job "per day" without benefits) jobs working at the recreation department or Senior Center. (I had a great part time job doing that and it paid great.) Check out the rec center or a day care or senior center. Back to running errands... start your own business running errands for busy people, doing their grocery shopping, dry cleaning, gift buying, filling out papers for them, going to the DMV, etc. Hey this is great, I would pay to have someone do this for me. Now what can you call your business? Something catchy about being a wife... how about "Busy Life, No Wife" ! Good luck. Lisa
Reply:hmm thats tricky...you could try McDonald's, I know they hire 14 year olds, I'm not sure about 13 though...you could give it a try, my sis works there and loves it...if you can't, try to babysit for the families who pay 10 bucks an hour ;) haha
Reply:if there's a local farmer's market near you, you could get a job at a fruit or vegtable stand, if the people running the particular produce stand hire outside of family. There's always baby-sitting, and even pet-sitting small animals like hamsters if your parents alow it... good luck! ^_^
Reply:Well, when I was job hunting at that age I went directly to my church. I was able to assistant teach a religion class once a week and I was put on their babysitting list. This really helped out, but the problem was I only worked about an hour once a week. You could also tutor younger students and put up fliers at your local library. I am also very lucky that my younger siblings have a lot a friends that need babysitters. It all depends on availability, it's not your fault that many places don't hire until you are 14 or 15. Just try the best you can, and don't get discouraged if you do not get a good job as fast as you want it to come.

Best of luck!! : D

How do you find jobs in the sports training field?

My fiance is a personal trainer and is looking for new work. I am trying to help him. He wants to get more involved in sports specfic training, but I have no idea how to search for these jobs. Any help would be great!

How do you find jobs in the sports training field?
Craigslist.com.... To get more involved in sports...he may have to be certified in sports medicine...not just personal training.
Reply:Depending on type of degree, he can search physical rehab clinics and centers, as they do significant business with sport related injuries. Also, check with major fitness groups, Ballys total fitness, 24 hour fitness, LA fitness.
Reply:Check with universities. If they don't have openings directly for that field, there will certainly be people within the athletics department who will have contacts.

What are some pros & cons to insourcing jobs to indian reservations instead of outsourcing to other countries?

I have asked this question in other forums . . .Why can't we insource, certain industry to people on reservations instead of sending jobs overseas?

1) Bank accounts, credit and personal information, in foreigners' hands seems like a recipe for a homeland security disaster.

2) Create jobs in some of the poorest regions of the U.S.

3) Balance resources between indian nations %26amp; keep it economically strong in our homeland

4) Restore confidence in people both on %26amp; off the reservation.

5) Common language already spoken

6) hard-working and easily trainable work force set up quickly

7) nearness to markets/ less transportation cost/customs/taxes etc.

8) local investment

9) quality of life for all Americans

10) tax incentives for businesses working with sovereign nations

Can you you think of any other pros or cons?

What are some pros %26amp; cons to insourcing jobs to indian reservations instead of outsourcing to other countries?
Do you want a factory in YOUR neighborhood? on YOUR ancestors grave?

Some rez are so far back into the hills they don't even have power . A LOT of infrastructure would have to go in first, and that's money they've never been willing to spend on US.

Now, if they let us BUY and put it in trust to put the factory on it, it could work. Even better idea letting us BUY an already built factory and turning it into trust land.

Almost forgot , We MIGHT make some money!

They're already complaining about the casino's!

"Can't let them damn savages make money! they might just buy it back!"
Reply:Would be nice if rich companies, like the financial industries, would put some of that profit into community service...maybe (for those that do have electric) start some work at home programs for poor areas like reservations and provide employees with computers and satellite internet service if they don't have the lines needed for regular internet.
Reply:Pro: more work available on the reservations would allow more people to stay on the reservation.....inturn allowing us to stay closer to our traditional culture and keep the Indian way of life alive for future generations. All while being able to maintain a lifestyle usually not affordable to those on the res.

As TwoCrows above said......wouldn't be good to have a factory in your neighborhood. There would have to be a great deal of power given to the Tribe in deciding where and how the factories are established.
Reply:I would be all for giving the work to the reservations. The pros would be to have more for the American Indian than just casinos which although needed at this time are really a slap in the face for Indians. Even a sales outlet on the reservation would be good. The jobs that go over seas are often times associated with hazardous waste, child labor and so forth. The Indians are ready for some real industries that are unique to them. I'm for it and would like to see it happen. How about conservation and wildlife things that Indians know far more about because of their way of life? Teach the rest of us to live in peace with mother Earth and save the planet.
Reply:You hit on some very good ones and this is a great question, I would expand it to areas that are deemed as economically distressed as well as native american reservations.

One thing that holds this back is our entitlement systems, a lot of times we will find that the potential employee can be on an entitlement pay that is close to the wages that we pay for these type of jobs. Also the real reason that this work is outsourced in all honestly is cost. If we pay a higher fee than we can get it down in India or Mexico the companies will go there, I think that #10 on your list helps and is a great way to look at how we can address that. The native american population has a really bad reputation in the workforce and that in itself might be keeping some employers from going this route should there be incentives for them. I don't have an opinion if the reputation is true or false so don't jump on me, I'm just stating facts.
Reply:they speak English
Reply:cons: it could be seen as being racist; indian reservations fall under a completely different governing system of their own creation; certain union and benefit requirements would need to be upheld I think and this is not the case in foreign countries; there aren't the number of people available on the reservations;
Reply:I lack knowledge about these people, but I look forward to speaking to an 'Indian' from my own country on a 'call centre line' instead of to an Indian from India, when I want to make a booking or, indeed, a reservation.
Reply:I have to agree with TwoCrows on this also.....People are already complaining about the casinos...(thinking we all own casino's) and getting rich and we don't all have casino's!.and we are not rich!...yes some rez's are very far from any populated cities and some do not have water even having to travel 4 miles just to get water......most cases if you go to a casino owned by a nation...most of the people working them are from other countries like Russia....people who are sent here to work....there was a major problem on Qualla when some of these so called workers.....were prostituting themselves.....and it brought more crime to the area......things have to change ....people who are non-Indian need to get educated and learn that alot of us still live in some of the poorest areas in the united states.......I for one would not want to see any buildings put on the graves of my ancestors.....and alot of these job opportunities are not good....there is a Pig Factory near Rosebud where they use the waste of pigs .,....with all that smell polluting the air and making those who have breathing problems have to suffer..,,but do they care?...Hell no all they care about is greed and how to make more money......this is what is done on the lands of Indians....I wont get started on what is going on Navajo lands but these are just examples

PS.I can agree with having non Hazardous materials .....I am PR (Pine Ridge) lakota also EBCI but know a lot of people on Rosebud....I do like your question....makes people think! you get star

What is the best way to find jobs when living in a small town?

Nevertheless I only have a high school diploma and not enough stability to go to college. What do u recommend for a person like me?

When is a good time to switch jobs after your first job out of college?

This is my first job out of college in the corproate world. I've been here for almost 2 months. There are alot of reasons why I want to switch jobs. My commute can be 4 hours round trip, I'm underpaid, company culture, etc. I heard that since I'm just starting a career I can switch jobs in 6 months. I just dont want my new employer to think I jump job to job.

When is a good time to switch jobs after your first job out of college?
You should put in the six months first. Less shows lack of stability in the corporate world.
Reply:I waited 3 years in a cruddy corp environment, waiting to be promoted, busting my butt and putting up with a sick commute. Dont wait too much time because you will age 15 years in a quarter of the time in a job you hate. But I wouldn't jump ship for at least a year, then you can say too prospective employers you were there a year, gave it your best and decided it was not a good fit.
Reply:Try looking around for a new job. You can spend 15-30 minutes every day, and you'll get a job. It's easier to get a new job if you have a job already. If you get hired despite only working at the current job for two months, then it's ok, as long as you resolve to stay at the new place for longer. And if it takes four months to find a new job

A four hour commute is too long. Try to find somewhere close to home or move closer to your workplace. Find out a lot about your new job before you accept it, hopefully be asking some people who already work there whether it's a good job. Don't accept a lower salary (since you're already underpaid) and go for a shorter commute! You can do it.
Reply:If you have lost your passion for the job and it sounds like you have it is better to look for something else to do now. It is easier to get another job while you are still working.

You could just tell your future employer that you are looking for something closer to home and they will understand.
Reply:When you get a better offer. Send out the resume.
Reply:If you're not promoted by 2 1/2 years, maker a lateral move within the company or outside the company.
Reply:when the money is better

What jobs are available for someone with a minor in specified fields?

I think the question says everything. I wanted to know if anybody knows what jobs are available for someone with a minor in SOCIOLOGY, ENGLISH

(LITERATURE), HISTORY, COMMUNICATIONS, SIGN LANGAUGE, MARKETING, and DRAMA or Music. By jobs I mean besides the obvious option of teaching. Does anybody know anyother jobs that are available for someone with this degree and only this degree?

What jobs are available for someone with a minor in specified fields?
If you did any statistical analysis of data during your sociology classes, you might be able to become a marketing research analyst at a marketing research company. They look for people who have social science majors and any experience with programs like SPSS.
Reply:I take it that when you ask about having a minor you mean having an Associates of Science degree at least. Then anything really. If you have an Associates Degree, you can get a job any where and apply it to anything. I have an Associates Degree: Multimedia (graphic design, 3d animation and design) and I am an Admissions Representative for a school making 35k a year.

hope this helps

What type of jobs are there in the astronomy field?

If you want to work in the astronomy field, what types of jobs are available to you? How much would you earn per year? Descriptions or links, if possible, would be appreciated. Thank you.

What type of jobs are there in the astronomy field?
Just about anywhere, from planetariums to prestigious universities. See link below.
Reply:There aren't a lot of jobs available in astronomy if you don't have a PhD. Most astronomers work at colleges and universities, national labs (like NRAO, NSO, LLNL), or NASA. You need a PhD for those jobs (research and teaching). A few astronomers work for observatories, planetariums, or museums, and there you don't need a PhD (usually). You can get by with a masters or even a 4-year degree.

With a PhD, astronomers typically make $60,000 - $120,000 a year. With a masters, more like $40,000 to $60,000 (you can teach at community college or high school with a masters). Without a masters and a job in astronomy (not another related field, like physics or computer science), probably not more than $40,000.
Reply:meteorologist, like the weather man or someone on the weather channel, they are all meteorologists and any job in the astronomy field will be a lot of money
Reply:You can get a position way up in the astronomical stratosphere. But you have to be a real star !
Reply:There are alot of different jobs, depending on what your interests are.
Reply:You have to really love astronomy, because at all levels it doesn't pay nearly as well as jobs of similar difficulty in other fields of endevor. That being said, it's great to be paid at all to do astronomy.

What sort of jobs count as work experience towards being a financial planner?

I want to be a certified financial planner and by april I'll have the educational requirements for a CFP, but absolutely no experience. I think I will also need to take either the CSC mutual funds course or the LLQP insurance licensing course. I can have either of these done by april as well. What sort of jobs will give me the best experience to become a CFP, but again will take me with no experience except sales and customer service?

What sort of jobs count as work experience towards being a financial planner?
A Bank or Building society!
Reply:You could try a bank. Sales and customer service are also very good though. Be sure to include any internships, volunteer work and any business related networking or organiztions that you have been involved with. Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, BNI, etc. Some financial service companies will hire you as an intern while you are still in school. This is a good way to get experience. I would start meeting people now. Get out and network.
Reply:Here is the link to CFP.org regarding work experience requirements. http://www.cfp.net/become/work.asp

This web site has lots of other useful information about the CFP process. Rather than believing everything your CFP school tells, sometime they could focus more on getting you to enroll rather than tell you straight answers, it is really important to find out the process of becoming CFP straight from the horse's mouse.

Best wishes.

What jobs are available to a recent business administration graduate?

I recently graduated from a 4 year college with a bachelors degree in business administration / marketing. I recently began my job search and found almost every job that I would want requires years of experience. More specifically pharmaceutical sales.

As for experience, I have worked tons of jobs during my education. Most were delt with audio / visual equipment, retail, or security. In other words I am kinda out of luck.

I was wondering what other people have done upon graduation to gain experience. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What jobs are available to a recent business administration graduate?
Maybe you could apply for an internship.

What kinds of jobs are available with an anthropology degree?

What could you do, what jobs are there specifically, anyone an anthropologist out there? The reason I ask is because I am minoring in Anthropology but I'm thinking of changing it to my major, it's just so interesting, I love going to all my anthropology classes. I'm currently majoring in Print Media and the classes are okay but not as enthused as with the anthropology classes, what do I do?

What kinds of jobs are available with an anthropology degree?
I dunno. I have a BA in anthro, a minor in french and I work at AT%26amp;T. Let me know...
Reply:If you are interested in archaeology, a BA in Anthropology (and a field school) could land you work with a CRM (cultural resource management) firm.

Check out www.archaeologyfieldwork.com
Reply:i'm a senior anthro major there's TONS of work for it. loads of international businesses hire anthropologists to do PR with foreign clients, you could teach (duh) or work with an aid organization to help develop better strategies for alleviating poverty etc. , or work for a museum its really a very versitle major.

you should check to see if your school has a career development center. they may even line you up with an internship

What jobs help people or animals that dont require a lot of extra eduction?

I am looking for a career field and job where I can help people or animals. I love the thought of doing something that matters, like helping children. I dont have the money to go thru more college. I have an associates in sociology and an associates in administrative assisting. Any ideas for jobs? I need a paycheck though also, so volunteering is out. The pay needs to be decent though.

I just feel like i need a change sometimes. I'm a secretary now and most of my jobs have been a secretary, receptionist, file clerk. I love what I do, but I feel I need to start helping .. like I make a difference.

I would appreciate the advice. Thanks. :)

What jobs help people or animals that dont require a lot of extra eduction?
Some cities hire for a limited time, say 6 months, adult literacy counselors to teach small groups of adults basic reading, writing and computational skills. The salary can be anywhere from 18 to 24 k for a full time position for 6 months. It is an intense job. It is very rewarding but also demanding. Also very limited benefits but you usually don't need a BA as life experience or a combination of less than BA degree and life experience is required. They are looking for MATURE adults.
Reply:Dog sitting service, a hospital orderly, or a Candy Striper.
Reply:Most vets are always looking for kennel assistants to help out. These are low paying, entry level jobs but they do not require extra education and they are helping animals. It is also a good way to get your foot in the door to work your way up in the vet's office to vet assistant or office manager

You could also become a pet groomer

What are the tax implications of having two jobs?

My wife currently works ad hoc as a nursing assistant for the NHS whereby she works whenever she likes, even one shift in 6 weeks. She has accepted a part time clerical job but would like to keep the ad hoc as well so she make a little extra money if needed. Are there any tax implications like a higher rate for two jobs, or is each job taxed under it's own merits? Many Thanks.

What are the tax implications of having two jobs?
she will get taxed more for her "2nd job", im not sure the detials but I tried to take on a second job and it turned out not to be worth the energy, although, your wife will prob work enough hours to make a difference, check it out at the tax office.
Reply:Both jobs will tax you on basic, as they won't take account of each other.

However, at the year's end, you contact the tax office - who will either refund or charge more based on total money earned.

The tax office doesn't care if you have one job, or twenty - you pay an amount of your income. Having two jobs will muddy the waters in the short term.
Reply:If the nursing job is very irregular, she should contact HMRC when she starts the clerical job to request that all her tax free allowances are allocated to the clerical job. This will mka ethe most of her allowances and will mean that her nursing job will be taxed at 22%.

Having two jobs does not mean you pay more tax - the tax would be the same as if the income from both jobs was all earned in one job. She will also save on NIC as she will get the annual exemption (5225) against both jobs.
Reply:she will get charged normal tax for the first and 22% tax for the second.

What types of jobs pertaining to the entertainment industry can I possibly get?

I've been looking for jobs that have a certain schedule set so that I can keep my mornings open for when I begin auditioning. I've looked at every type of job from babysitting to clerical work. I'm having a bit of a difficult time finding one, but what I'd really love to do is work at a studio or obviously anywhere else that deals with the entertainment field. I mean I've tried to find info on how to get one of these jobs but to no avail. Does anyone have any resources or personal information on how to get a job like this? Thanks!! ; )

What types of jobs pertaining to the entertainment industry can I possibly get?
Go to a college of the arts. There are plenty of places you can go to. Do the online search of places in your area. I do know that most of these places, if not all, do ask for high grades, so I hope you have that. There are almost no ways to get a job in the entertainment industry without having some kind of connections, which you will find while in school. Try to find a lower job in a movie theater or animations studio. Maybe that will help you. When you go for an interview, mention that you need SOME mornings off so you can audition. I'm sure if you find the right job, they will understand. Either that or get a part time job that would have you working after 5pm. You need to make sacrifices if you really wanna make it. Look at at the wanna-be-actors living in L.A. They wanna make it in the business and MOVED THERE to have some chance to do it.
Reply:Fluffer is a great job for someone with your looks
Reply:Unless you have family entry level is Paige, Tour Guide or Prop Room.
Reply:stripper, just go to any strip joint
Reply:It's difficult to do both.

Make a decision to act or get a day job.

You can't do both. One has to go!

Actors don't worry about things like that, they know what they want to do and do it.

It's not something one thinks about if one seriously wants to be an actor.

Reply:i'd love to do the same thing but the thing is you need connections....having a degree don't mean **** if u dont connections...ppl who don't have degrees got jobs there..i heard you have to meet ppl at those business parties..so probably get involved in major film festivals or something and do volunteer work but if ur financially struggling now as far as housing oh man thats gonna be tough! id probably stay away if u dont want to sacrifice
Reply:Maybe look for smaller theatres or other entertainment businesses that might be hiring box office staff or assistants. They will understand the needs of the field. You also might look into related businesses like lighting or sound equipment businesses, makeup or costume stores, or even bookstores! Check and see if any of the libraries or bookstores in town need a "story lady" or someone to dress up as book characters. Several of the actors in my university's theatre department have gotten work this summer as Harry Potter characters for the new book promotion.

What are some jobs in the veterinary field that pay good money?

What kinds of jobs were available in Salinas valley of California during the 1930's?

I'm doing a webquest for the book 'Of Mice and Men' and one of the many questions is, 'What kinds of jobs are available here?'

Any answers?

Links would also be helpful.

What kinds of jobs were available in Salinas valley of California during the 1930's?
Most of the jobs at that time were in the farm fields harvesting produce. All menial , low wage jobs.
Reply:Don't worry I am not expecting to get Best Answer for this....this is just an intentional outburst of foolishness. And, more than likely this will make you sign in to Yahoo Answers when you see that someone has answered this question. I shovelled my roof off today too.

DO YOU THINK ANYONE THAT WAS AROUND IN THE 1930's EVEN HAS THE SLIGHTEST CLUE HOW TO RUN A COMPUTER SO THAT THEY COULD ANSWER THIS???

OK

you have a great day now. Canada Wins Gold!!!!!!
Reply:Like most of the country, the Salinas Valley would have been about 90% agricultural in that era. Flowers and grapes have long been major crops in the area but green vegetables have always been a major source of income. The proximity of Monterrey would have left the possibility of some fishing and canning jobs. Every place has some light manufacturing and retail but it mostly supported the agriculture.

For depression times, Salinas was considered relatively prosperous.

What good paying jobs are hurting for people right now?

And what type of qualifications do i need for thses jobs?

What good paying jobs are hurting for people right now?
From around here (MN), there has been a need for a lot of nurses and production management position. But then this is just the cities areas. The Mayo Clinic is hiring a lot I say because I see a lot of their hiring advertisment. The problem is there may not be many people who qualifies for the positions. You probably already know the qualifications for these positions.
Reply:It is somewhat region specific and is based on your qualifications but medicine, law, and accounting are all growing fields.
Reply:From what I hear, none..In the area I Live in (NC) Jobs are really scarce and alot of people are out of work and unable to find a job. If one comes to mind, it would be the "Fast Food Industry" such as Burger King, McDonalds. I am always seeing "Hiring" in one of their Windows..
Reply:Anything in the medical field. Rn's are in high demand. A couple of years to earn an associates. Medical sonographer, billing specialist, medical coder, x-ray technician, vascular tech, cardiac cath lab.... All of these require at least a year of school. Some programs you could look into that will earn you a certificate are surgical tech(scrub in the docs and hold instruments), EKG tech, EEG tech, phlebotomist. You could look into medical assisting, that's an awesome job to have if you can get into a well established doctor's office. NO HOLIDAYS and minimum weekends.

There are no good paying jobs anymore. Not since companies gutted the work force with low-paying jobs, illegal immigrants, cheap labor, and stagnant wages.
Reply:Nursing is always in need. As is teaching, though teachers don't mak much money. For nursing you would need atleast a 2 year associates degree to gain your RN license. Pay varies by region and field of specialty but you will typically start out in the $40,000 range.

What are some jobs in the veterinary field that pay good money?

Other than a vetirinarian and veterinary technician ( I heard they get paid only $10-$15 per hour) what are some other good paying jobs in the veterinary field? And how much do they pay? Also, what kind of schooling would they require?

Thanks a bunch in advance.

What are some jobs in the veterinary field that pay good money?
I'm pre-vet and I'm going to specialize in equine veterinary science (treating horses). Depending on your location and area of specialty, you can make anywhere from $50,000 - $200,000/year. Kentucky, California, and Florida are among the most horse-populated states in the country. Oh, and regular small animal vets make much more than $10-$15/hr. I'm not sure about vet techs, though.

What kind of jobs can you do with a masters in psychology?

Ive been interested in taking this for awhile, Does anyone know, what jobs you can do with just a masters, and what they pay??

Is it worth the years you spend in school?

What kind of jobs can you do with a masters in psychology?
You can do many different jobs with a Masters in Psychology. If you are more asking about counseling jobs though, a Licensed Professional Counselor is about the top of the heap as far as Master's level. It allows you to set up a licensed counseling office and accept private insurance for payment. Your income will really depend on you and how good you are and how well you market yourself and how well you are connected. I know some LPC's making $200,000+ and some that are barely clearing $30,000. I personally have a Masters in Psychology but work in the mortgage industry where I utilize my skills learned from Psychology. The degree itself is rather useless with out the other licenses and certifications that allow you to make the real money. With only the degeree you are probably maxing out around $40,000 in most areas so if you head down that road do what it takes to get the license along the way.
Reply:For the time spent in school, there really isn't that much money in psych unless you are a psychiatrist and compared to other types of doctors even they aren't paid as well. You could work in a variety of settings....guidance counselor, family counselor, you could work in a private office or work in a hospital. There is so much. You could even teach as community colleges with a Master's in Psych.

What types of jobs allow you to travel extensively?

I've worked for an airline before, and I realized that although you have flight benefits (discounted or free travel), you can't afford to use them (financially or because of work schedule). What jobs require you to virtually live out of a suitcase? I would like to travel while I work 5-6 days a week.

What types of jobs allow you to travel extensively?
A cruiser, a travel company, trekking companys, guiding tours.

Stuff like that.
Reply:Try to work for a cruise line.
Reply:Join a C-130 (or another cargo plane based) Air National Guard Unit and become an aircrew member. You will get all kinds of travel opportunities....I promise.
Reply:The cruise ship industry is one way to go, but you could also get a sales person job, tech support, or even a tour director.

I had a friend who was in VoIP (Voice over IP) sales and traveled every day of the week.

Drug reps for company's like Smith Kline and Johnson and Johnson etc travel tons too.

Hope you find something!
Reply:Become a network engineer and you will travel all the time. Also you can do other tech work of similar nature. Check saic.com for job openings those guys are always traveling.

What kind of jobs are good if you love animals?

I really love animals, especially dogs and really want to work with them as a career. I have thought about an animal trainer but I want to explore my options. I don't really want to be a vet because I don't like to see severely hurt animals. Also, what are good things to study for jobs like this?

What kind of jobs are good if you love animals?
If you only want to work with dogs, trainer, vet, vet tech, or dog walker are the only jobs I can think of. Don't limit yourself though! You could also be a zookeeper, animal scientist, wildlife technician, lab tech (work with rats, monkeys, and such). Good courses of study would be an animal science degree, taking courses on anatomy, behavior, physiology, nutrition, etc.
Reply:If you do not like to see animals that are sick and/or hurt, I wouldn't recommend a Veterinarian or Veterinary Technicians job. I would say either a Dog Groomer or Kennel Position. Good Luck in your search.
Reply:Start a bestiality porn site.
Reply:working at a humane society. a animal recue agencie. a pound. veterinarian, veterinarian assitant, veterinarian technician, wild life specialist, zoologist, there are many more try looking around online. if you are interested alot about animals too try going to your nearest humane society/pound or veterinarian clinic for more details also asking a zoo keeper at the zoo would be helpful too goodluck
Reply:volunteer @ the animal shelter
Reply:If you are in highschool I would take biology and anatomy. Although this anatomy will mostly be human, it will give you an idea on how certain organs systems work. If you want a part time job at the moment... try to find one at a local petco or ask local vets if they are in need of a receptionist or an assistant. Even being around the terms used for care of pets will help you go after whatever pet oriented career path you chose.
Reply:You could try being a kennel keeper, groomer, trainer, breeder. Classes you might want to take are biology, cosmotology (for the groomer) and just try your luck with the others. Hope that helps. Also if you aren't too sure of what to do you can always look it up online.
Reply:hi I hope you are pretty young cause this is like the billionth pet question you have asked today and that is nerdy if you are past the age 13
Reply:Vet is the closest you can be to animals...good luck in school....have a good day
Reply:start with cleaning poop from cages and then work you way up to feeding them

What kind of jobs can you get with a bachelors in psychology?

I need to decide on a major. I was thinking psychology but im not sure if I can get a well paying job after a get out of school. I aslo would not mind going in to a business degree. I just really want to get a well paying job once i finish. What kind of jobs can you get with a bachelors in psychology, and is there a way to minor in business. I just basicly want some good advice on that major.

What kind of jobs can you get with a bachelors in psychology?
I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology and honestly, you can't get many jobs in the "psych-related" field with it. I was a paraprofessional at an elementary school for awhile, but that was a tough job and not very good pay. The job I have now is completely unrelated to psychology...unless you consider that the knowledge is helpful when dealing with difficult co-workers. :-)

Any major you have with a four year degree will get you the base requirements for those jobs that ask for a Bachelors degree...in order to specify your field, in most cases you have to go on to a Masters or Doctorate degree. Exceptions might be Education, Business, and/or a Computer degree.
Reply:I got news for you. Get any four year degree. It doesn't really make any difference. Go on to law school or graduate school get a doctorate. Otherwise your psych major dont mean much.
Reply:There really isn't much you can do with a Bachelor's in psychology, but perhaps you can combine it with another major to do more, If you combine it with business maybe you can do something with personel.. With education, teach it in school. In most states you have to have a Doctorate in Psychology to get the best paying jobs. Some states allow Master's level psychologists to be therapist. Some may call them something else, like mental health associates, but you would basically do therapy, perhaps testing (IQ, Personality, Achievment)
Reply:If all you care about is money and not people,I would suggest going into a Business major.
Reply:By the way, I just finished my Bachelor's degree in Computer Information System which is a combination between computer technology and business administration, and the market is extremely competitive.

It is also extemely competitive for any bachelor's degree. What really helps is, a bachelor's degree with proven excellence of experience in your field of study. Basically, if you had a position with a company for five years, and your job performance was outstanding, then you would have an lot less difficult time at obtaining a position with a company.

The jobs that are really booming now is anything nursing, healthcare, truck driving, but all these fields are going to fill-up to and become extemely competitive.

HVAC (Heating Venting and Cooling) is a good trade right now, but it will soon fill up too.

My advice, don't worry about the pay. Just go to school, study what you really enjoy and do the best that you can BUT make sure you try to learn a lot. Then graduate and apply for jobs.

In this day and time, you will have to take just about anything just to get your foot in the door. College don't mean a lot now days because there are so many people that have went to college and graduated that they have their pick of almost anybody in the world.

So just go to school, graduate, and hope for the best. That is all anyone can do in an extremely competitive global environment.

I just read your minor in business. I think getting a minor in business would be a waste of your time and money. Getting a minor in business doesn't really teach you about finance, accounting, human resources, management, IT, or marketing. It is just an introduction to all areas that are in a business. It don't teach you how to do anything. So I would skip this. Most businesses won't look at your minor

If you like psychology and business, then you might want to consider getting a degree in Management. Like every other field, it is extremely competitive but if you can get a management position then you will make pretty good money. There are higher levels of management positions that earns more.

But I want to give you a heads up about what I have found out about management position. As you probably know, middle management has almost disappeared. The only place you can find middle management is in some kind of small to midsize company, but middle management will disappear and upper management and lower management will take on the responsibilities that middle management once held.

A couple of months ago, I read in an online business article claiming that corporations are going to start letting go upper management because it would reduce the company's expense which would allow the company to become more competitive globally by passing on that savings with the world, by reducing prices.

Lower management has been downsized quite a bit. In many companies you will find that there are fewer managers with greater responsibilities. One person may be over a thousand employees. So even in this area, they are cutting back.

From the newspapers job ads, automechanic and diesel mechanic are very popular trades and there are a lot of postings for these jobs. If you went in this direction, you would probably have a less difficult time at obtaining employment and your pay would be pretty good. But a lot of people get burnt out on mechanic work really quick.

What jobs should I put on my resume and how do I explain gaps?

2005 was a really bad year for employment. I got let go from 2 jobs and just took a few jobs to pay the bills. So obviously I won't put those on my resume. Also in 2005 I moved away to work at a resort but left because I was homesick. I was only there for 2 months. So, what do I say about 2005 on my resume? It was just a bad year in general. Also do employers care about my first job as a dishwasher when I was 15? I'm 23 now.

What jobs should I put on my resume and how do I explain gaps?
I have hired people in the past at a restaurant I work for. I never checked resumes or past employers. I have never had any employer check on my past employers either. You can stretch out your last job to make it fill in the gap. I doubt if there are many resumes out there that are completely honest. I type up and create resumes for people. So far there has not been one that is completely truthful.
Reply:You don't OWE them any explanation at all as to why you took time off. Understand that these people have a position to fill to help their company run at optimal levels. They need YOU. It is entirely none of their business, all they need to worry about is what your qualifications are for the particular job you are looking to fill. Just go in there with what you have and the attitude that you are the person they are looking for.

Best of luck!
Reply:There are many various ways to write a resume and cover letter. I have placed in the source box where you can source information to do this. It is difficult to answer the question not knowing what employment it is.
Reply:As far as 2005 goes, if you're not going to include it on your resume, you could just say you decided to take a break from work for awhile to reassess your life. Concerning your first job, you don't have to put it in, but progress looks good on a resume.

What kind of jobs are there in the medical field?

I know I want to do something with medicine, but i'm just not for sure. I know that there is just like peditricians or RN's but what 'out of the ordinary' jobs are there?

What kind of jobs are there in the medical field?
Doctors- specializing in all medical fields from cancer to obstetrics.

Nurses- specializing in critical care, nurse practitioners who can open their own practice, nurse anesthetists - by the way, they make about 5 grand a week but you need a bsn and then a masters with specialization.

Nurses aides- they basically do the "clean up" of the patients including making the beds, taking temps, the not so mentally challenging jobs.

Medical secretaries- everything that is involved in a doctor's office they are trained and may be included in their job description.

Lab techs--either blood where they actually draw the blood from the patients, or they can be on the technical end where they actually analyze and diagnose the problems with the blood.

xray techs- they do all types of xrays- pictures of bones and other body parts, they also do cat scans, mris and can specialize to be nuclear med techs- much better paying and would administer nuclear isotopes for scans and stress tests.

OR technicians- they work in the OR of course and are responsible for setting up and helping with the instruments used in the surgeries.

I hope I didn't leave anyone out--you may want to visit a hospital by meeting with the HR rep and see if you can "shadow" someone in one of the fields above to give you a better insight on what is involved in each field. The amount of schooling varies greatly and so does the amount of dedication, stamina and of course, brains.

Good luck to you, oh by the way, I'm an xray tech and my daughter is a RN with her BS going for her masters to become either a NPractitioner or anesthetist--as a nurse in our state, her school loans are paid by the hospital she works with along with the state paying the rest....nurses are in the highest of demand and getting into a good nursing program is easier than getting into med school........good luck to you.
Reply:Oh wow, there are so many careers in the health field I can't name them all here. I can think of at least 15 specialties or other jobs with just an RN title. The first site I listed covers many careers in health. Second one is all about nurses.
Reply:I assume you are looking for medical careers within the United States. If so, the Occupational Outlook Handbook has tons of information for your research. It even has trends for the next several years so you can see what the demand will be in a particular area. It also lists what type of training and certification are perhaps required.
